Quiet Time With God

Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. (Mark 6:30-32)

  • The apostles returned successfully from a traveling ministry. The Twelve reported to Jesus the wonderful things that God had done through them.

  • But Jesus knew that His apostles needed to rest. He commanded them to go and have a rest in an isolated place. They were to move away from the crowds into a private retreat.

  • All of us need to take time out of our busy schedules to rest. We want to avoid stress, one of the biggest contributing factors to disease. We also want to rejuvenate our body and soul for more fruitful service.

  • Spending quiet time with God can bring quiet rest from God. To experience closeness to God, we need proper retreat, solitude, quiet thought and prayer. A life with God Is what we need to bring healing, forgiveness, and restoration. When we move, breath and have our being in God, we position ourselves for a life of faithful and fruitful living. A quiet time with God helps us enjoy God’s blessings in our spiritual journey.
