A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law. (Isaiah 42:3)
- A bruised reed He will not break. To the discouraged, Christ will deal tenderly. He will comfort them, encourage them, and build them up.
- And smoking flax He will not quench. With the weak, Christ will approach them gently. He will make them strong, brave, and glorious.
- He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged. Christ is gentle, but not weak. He will bring forth justice for truth. It will happen; failure or discouragement will not stop Him. Christ has all power and authority! He is well able to do the task of redemption because He is free from all the weaknesses and failures of His people.
- Till He has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands shall wait for His law. The work of Christ will extend to the whole earth, and to all the peoples; even those in the distant coastlands shall serve Him.
- What a comfort and encouragement to know that Christ is gentle and tender toward us! What a joy and peace to know that Christ is powerful and victorious, triumphs over Satan’s stronghold! March on Christians to our Promise Land.
